Since 1983, The Rehabilitation Unit has been providing the highest quality services designed to help patients with acute physical limitations progress toward independent living.
To be eligible for admission, the patient must be willing and able to participate in an intensive therapy program (3 hours per day) and have potential for improvement. In addition, the patient must require specialized rehabilitation medical management and rehabilitation nursing.
Our highly experienced Rehabilitation physicians direct and follow each patient's treatment and progress. The Nurse Practitioner visits patients frequently during their stay to ensure that services are coordinated to best meet their specific needs.
Specially trained rehabilitation nurses provide care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They educate patients and families to manage medical needs and encourage carry-over of techniques learned in therapy.
SPECIALIZED TREATMENT PROGRAMSBased on each individual patient’s needs, our highly experienced rehab staff members implement specialized treatment programs.
These customized programs include:
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Spinal Cord Injury
- General Rehabilitation
In order to ensure that we are providing the most effective treatment possible for our patients, we closely monitor our treatment results and patient/family satisfaction through national databases. We use this feedback to constantly improve and enhance the services that we provide to all our patients.

PREPARING FOR DISCHARGEIn preparation for discharge, the patient and family are trained by the rehabilitation staff in the skills needed at home. In order to ensure a safe transition home, family members who will be helping in the care of the patient will attend therapy sessions to learn how to provide assistance in the home setting. Our staff will provide individualized written discharge instructions that patients and their family caregivers can refer to once they return home. We will also arrange for any services or equipment that the patient may need after discharge.
