Saint Thomas Health's compensation philosophy is to pay salaries based on the local not-for-profit competitive market value for a particular classification. Saint Thomas Health understands that an inherent attribute of its associates is an opportunity to serve within a ministry of the Church, having an intrinsic value and rewards that go beyond material gains.
In evaluating the competitive market value, we use the "market pricing" approach, relying upon external market data of compensation levels provided by other employers for similar positions (i.e., benchmark positions). These market data are collected from a variety of credible and established national published and proprietary survey sources.
It is Saint Thomas Health's pay philosophy to pay a fair and just wage for the work performed. Therefore, the market's midpoint (the 50th percentile) is the standard around which we build our pay ranges.
Once an employee reaches the maximum of the range, this is considered the maximum rate the market will bear for the given job.
Associates of Saint Thomas Health enjoy a total compensation package that well exceeds base pay. Total comp includes tuition assistance, pension benefits, 403(b) matching contribution, disability insurance, healthcare benefits insurance premiums supplemented by Saint Thomas Health, and a host of other benefits. Please refer to your Saint Thomas Health Annual Total Compensation Statement for a detailed listing of your complete pay and benefits received in FY08.
Together with competitive pay and benefits, Saint Thomas Health is aligned to attract, retain and reward top talent to our health care system.
